Arnold Tenenbaum was born in 1936 in Savannah, Georgia. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1958 with a degree in philosophy and graduated Columbia University's Graduate School of Business soon thereafter. Upon completion of his education, he returned to Savannah where he began to work for his family's business, Chatham Steel Corporation.
